When you think of flying, what one word captures its essence for you?

Curiosity. As a kid, I'd chase planes in the garden, dreaming about the skies. It took several attempts – I even dreamed of becoming an airline pilot – but I finally found my place in general aviation.

Can you describe what you felt during your first flight?

(Laughs) I couldn't stop singing, "I'm flying alone. I'm flying alone." It was pure joy, a magical moment I’ll never forget.

"The thrill of discovering something new, getting better, that never ends."

You've largely fulfilled your childhood dream. What's the journey been like so far?

Of course, I still have dreams to chase, but yes, in many ways, I've fulfilled my childhood dream. I got my BPL and all the ratings – tailwheel, aerobatics, UL license. I trained as a flight instructor, got my IFR in the U.S., and earned my mountain rating in Europe and seaplane rating. There was a lot. I took on everything within reach.

What's next on your bucket list?

The thrill of discovering something new, getting better, that never ends. Alaska is top of my list – bush flying, seaplane flying, glacierlandings. I also want to compete more. I crave the challenge.
